Bonjour !!!

It was a nice relaxing day at work today. This morning, a person walked into the Sakura House office and she looked very familiar. It turned out that she was my Japanese classmate at UCLA. We took the intensive advanced Japanese class last summer which we learned a year-worth of advanced Japanese in one summer. I always remembered that she spoke Japanese extremely well. She also remembers Sakura House when they had a small office 5 years ago. What a small world! It's always nice to run into people in a different country. : )

This morning on the train, Christina made me laugh... just before the stop in Oimachi Christina said: "Get ready to be squeezed again!" Since we live in Omori, we get to experience the real Tokyo train feeling every morning and evening. Personal space is something you won't find during rush hour on a train in Tokyo. You have to share one square meter with about 10 other people - you feel packed like sardines! But to experience such a train ride has to be part of a Tokyo stay. Christina and I, we get to experience it for another 4 1/2 weeks, every morning and evening ;-)!

How we feel on the train!                                                                       A dream come true!

Our trip today with Namiki san and Ochiai san to the Sakura Hotel in Ikebukuro was a very interesting trip. We learned more about the Sakura House Company and its history. Furthermore we had a delicious lunch at the Sakura Cafe in Ikebukuro which is located right next to the Sakura Hotel. Thank you Sakura House for the yummy lunch! About our trip to Ikebukuro you can read more on the other intern's bolg: Christina's, Jose's and Eugene's blog.

After lunch, we took a tour around the hotel. There are dormitory rooms, one person rooms, 2 people rooms, and family size rooms. This hotel is still new and there are people from all over the world staying there. The cafe is opened 24 hrs, so if you're hungry anytime of the day, you can just get a bite to eat there. It is also very close to the Ikebukuro train station where there are a lot of big department stores. A very nice place for your short stay in Tokyo!

Today all of the interns have the opportunity to go down to Sakura Cafe Ikebukuro for a nice lunch! Since the cafe is located on the first floor of Sakura Hotel Ikebukuro, the hotel manager is kind enough to give us a little tour around the hotel.

On our way to the hotel and it was kind of warm...

IMG_8229.JPGDepending on the day you go to the cafe, there is different international menu for you to choose from. I ate roasted chicken today. It was delicious!

IMG_8232.JPGthe open air concept cafe was really nice to dine in! we had a good time eating and talking with each other :)

IMG_8239.JPGAfter lunch, we moved opposite to have a tour around the hotel. Sakura Hotel Ikebukuro recently expanded to two buildings which are just located opposite of each other.

IMG_8253.JPGI am really interested in what the residents put inside the fridge in the hotel's common kitchen. If you stay at the hotel, you are free to use the common kitchen in the hotel.

IMG_8265.JPGThis special bunk beds are specially customized by Sakura Hotel which promise to give you the best comfort during your stay!

of course, Sakura Hotel has a wide range of rooms to suit your individual needs. You can choose from family rooms to the normal single/double rooms to bunk beds!

I hope to see you in Tokyo soon :)
