Wow...lot actually happened on today...well, at least I felt it was a long but productive day. I was assigned a task to translate some English stuff on the Sakura House website into traditional Chinese. I haven't written proper Chinese in such a long time, so hopefully I don't write anything weird.
In the afternoon, I went with Kiguchi san to meet up with two clients who wanted to view the premise. The first place I went to was the Narimasu guest house. From the station, we had to catch a bus that took about a little more than 5 minutes and walked for another 5 minutes. Narimasu seemed like a very quiet and family oriented community where you can see mothers picking up their kids or grocery shopping on their bikes. The premise had an old traditional feel but was remodeled into semi-western style rooms. When entering the room, I had to take a big step up which probably used to be a tatami room. I was also able to tell that the storage space was a closet to store futons but now it's painted white without the sliding doors. So, I guess this would be a good place for someone who would like to take a breather from all the excitement and experience the true Japanese style community.
Our sencond appointment was in Kami Itabashi Patio House C apartment. The client was a Deaf person so we were using the white board to communicate. I found out that his grandfather taught at UCLA, where I graduated from, for 30 years. Yay...GO BRUINS!! It was about 10 minutes walking distance to the apartment from the station. On the way there, we passed by a street with small shops where many housewives and elderlies were grocery shopping with their bikes. Like Narimasu, it is a really family oriented community. The apartment was nice and clean; it was also a tatami room remodeled into a modern western style room. The cabinet space is still the traditional futon closet.
I really enjoyed learning how Kiguchi san deals with clients when showing them the premise. : )
