Today I got the chance to join Lim san from Korea on her trip to Otsuka to show an interested student a room in the Otsuka B house. It is one of the newest Guest Houses run by Sakura House. It takes about 5 minutes from the Otsuka station house and on your way you pass serveral nice restaurants and supermarkets. And also the actual Otsuka B house is really nice... the small house with its red door and its big ladybug which gives its friends a warm welcome, you just have to like it. The inside is also really welcoming, there are 7 rooms and the common area you share with the other housemates. The living room, kitchen and bathroom are nice and clean as the whole house is. An another great feature of the house is its quite big backyard. But see for yourself! Just take look at the Otsuka B House ...

Furthermore we went to Otsuka House (its a different one) to change the garbage duty schedule. Yeah everybody has to take turns bringing the garbage down... but it seems that some people forget about their garbage duty...even so there is the schedule and you have the big reminder on your door. I mean it is the same back at our homes where we also have take our garbage out, don't we? I don't know what will happen but there were evidence pictures taken ! But the Otsuka house is nevertheless a nice place. And apart from the garbage bags that weren't taken down the place seems nice and clean, too.

I learned a lot on that day. For example the procedure of showing a room to a interested customer or the garbage system of Sakura house.

After the "work" I had a nice lunch breack with Lim san, we just stopped by a nice little restaurant close to the Otsuka station. I got tempura as you can see on the picture. And I am also getting better at eating with chop-sticks.

One last tip for today: Never forget choclate in your purse....I can tell you, you don't want a cell phone with choclate topping!!!

The World Cup kicked off on June 11th, 2010.
TV broadcast is usually late at night in Japan because of the time difference.
While soccer PLAYERs face for the nation's prestige,
soccer FANs are also fighting against the lack of sleep.

On June 19th, we watched the Japan vs. Netherlands game with
Oshiage residents and it was very fun!
Many of our pictures were out of focus since we drunk too much beer and were too excited.

The Japanese team lost to the Netherlands, but it was a good game!
After the game, my colleague from Japan and resident from Netherlands exchanged uniforms to honor each other's work. It was one of the best scenes...

Inga and I got to go see the guest house in Omori today with Taka from the maintenance team. They mainly clean up the common areas such as the kitchen and bathroom so I helped out a little while I was there. I was also there to view my room that I will be moving into. The Omori guest house is really big and is right next to the Omori station. Very convenient!! Ochiai san took us around the K-1 building and showed us sister companies of SAKURA House; there's a business card printing company, temporary office space rentals. SAKURA House also has a bar and an Okonomiyaki restaurant. It's really amazing how versatile SAKURA House is. : )

Day 1 - 3 of my internship @ Sakura House

Today is already my 3rd day of my internship at the headquarters of Sakura House... but let's start from the begining...

The first day was really overwhelming for me. As Christina already wrote we attended the weekly report meeting of the SAKURA House staff and the boss where we had to introduce ourselves. Even though I can't speak any Japanese, I managed to say at least a few sentences in Japanese. On my first day I learned what philosophy SAKURA House has and how it works. Furthermore I met the staff of the Headquarters of Sakura House and I agree with Christina, remembering all the names will be the most challenging task. But I can tell you that Christina is doing good remembering the names.

On my second day the most exiting event was receiving my own business cards from Sakura House. Just have a look at Christina's entry; she uploaded a picture of hers.

Christina already blogged what we did today. It was really interesting to join Taka san to Omori. The housing in Omori is really nice. And also our K1-building tour with Ochiai san to the sister companies of Sakura House was exciting. I really do like the designs of the business cards from K-1 Print.

Everyday, there is something new to learn about SAKURA House...
