Good morning everyone!

Yesterday I had the chance to visit our premises in Meidaimae, and show one of the rooms to a future tenant from Turkey, Ceyhun san. He is working at the moment at Tokyo University and moved to Japan from US, where he was living before.

It is actually hard to find a more convenient place than Meidaimae, specially for those who want to be near Shinjuku or Shibuya!

This time, we took a look at the guest house Meidaimae A that Sakura House has in the area, which is located in a quite residential area, and very quiet, with plenty of supermarkets, smalls restaurants and convenient stores to make your life a lot easier!

Ceyhun was amazed by the house and its location, and soon he will be one of our new residents!

Welcome to Sakura House Ceyhun!

My Life as an Intern at SAKURA House (Day 1)

Today is my second day at SAKURA House. Like yesterday, I got here a few minutes too early; but, working in a Japanese company, it's best to be early rather than late. As many people may know, Japanese time is usually 10 minutes prior to the actual time; if I start work at 8:50 am, I have to be here at 8:40 am which is considered on time.

Yesterday, I had to introduce myself in front of the whole staff at their weekly report meeting. I was really really nervous since they were all in a big circle, but my memorized official introduction in Japanese went ok. (Phew~) After that, I learned how the SAKURA House system works and what value it holds in this big foreign community. It's quite amazing!! I also learned how to receive rent as well as the contract signing process. What I thought was cool is that there's a live stream video camera of the office where my family and friends can spy on me working. Hopefully I'll be doing a good job. However, the most challenging task was remembering all the names of the staff. It will take me a while, but I will eventually get everyone.

Today, I received my first official business card with my name. I'm so excited that I'm actually starting to fully engage myself in the Japanese business culture. The exchange of business cards help you know the person's name and allows you to understand the person's job position. Very very important in Japan!

Anyways, I'll be writing blogs everyday about my life as an intern at SAKURA House from now on.

Blog photo_Inga.jpgHi!

My name is Inga and I am from Germany. I am doing an intership at the SAKURA House Headquarters in Shinjuku for the next 7 weeks. This is actually my first time staying in Japan and I just started to learn Japanese a week ago.

I graduated from Hildesheim University (a quite small university near Hannover) with a BA degree in International Comunication and Translation this month. I thought it would be a good idea to gain some more international work experience abroad before I apply for graduate school in autumn to get my Master's degree in Intercultural Comunication.

Hi Everyone,

My name is Christina. Today was my first day as a new intern at the SAKURA House office and will be working here for 7 weeks. I'm almost 24 years old (not young anymore). I was born in the United States and grew up in Taiwan. I'm half Taiwanese and half yonsei Japanese-American. I just graduated from UCLA Japanese major two weekends ago. Since I will need to start looking for a job soon (time to face reality), I thought this internship would be a good opportunity for me to improve my Japanese as well as engage myself in the Japanese business culture which I believe will help me in the future. honjitsu kara SAKURA House de oseiwa ni narimasu. yoroshiku onegaishimasu. gambarimasuyo! : )

It was a nice game last night!

Even though many people expected an easy victory for Holland, it was not that easy at all!

Only one game left on the group stage for Japan, but hopefully the can beat Denmark and go to the next round!

Ganbare Nippon!
